A Dandy of a 36'

I think this guy was on his way out for a hot date. I don't think his shoes or pants would stay clean even with the fenders.

21st Annual Dan Rouit Open House

JD cut down, personal favorite.
This one is for David.
Fresno's Pop Laval image, from the Fresno mile in the teen's.
Victoria's new love, she said a 60's Tiger Cub would be perfect for her. She especially liked the seat piping, which is essential to motorcycle performance.
This was the second year that I have attended and it was just as good. The weather this year was in the mid 90's so we spent a little more time in the shade. This is one of the best motorcycle events around. Dan Rouit is an amazing man and a key to getting others to find their love for the sport.

Hanford 2012

Bryan won People's Choice, the best award that they had. Got to see David, Bird and some other friends. The place was picked over. I don't think I will go back unless I have a space, Saturday is really picked over or crazy prices, I mean crazy. Dan from SM parts was a really nice to meet I wish him the best with that new endeavor. Victoria got to tell John that the Honey Suckle Rose was her favorite.

Fishing, Chico, Gridley and Grimes

The photo of Ken and I is 18 years apart. It was such an amazing time with my dad and extended family in Northern California. Chico State's job fair was particularly fun and I know two teenagers that would enjoy going to Chico State more than they know. The fishing was good, though I heard that it was better before I got there. Well, some things never change.

Laura Jane Grace "Against Me! lead Tom Gabel came out as transgender in the new issue of Rolling Stone magazine. The article states that Gabel has been privately dealing with gender dysphoria for years and will soon begin the process of transition via hormone and electrolysis treatments. Gabel eventually plans to take the name Laura Jane Grace and remain married to her wife Heather. Rolling Stone has signified this as the first time a major rock star has come out openly as transgender. In the preview article Gabel reflects on the impact of the revelation: "I'm going to have embarrassing moments, and that won't be fun. But that's part of what talking to you is about – is hoping people will understand, and hoping they'll be fairly kind." The full story on Gabel's transformation will be in the issue of Rolling Stone available Friday, May 11th." Though shocking I am not surprised as she has hinted about it in at least two songs. I wish her and her family the best as she makes this almost impossible transition in a country where today North Carolina voted an amendment against same gender relationships. I hope that she can manage it the best she can. New song from the Revival Tour;

2012 Fresno Basque Picnic

On Saturday the Fresno Basque Club held their 2012 picnic. Now this event holds a special place in my heart. Like the many cultures that I grew up around here in the Central Valley the Basque are some of my closest friends. The Basque people if you do not know come from mountainous region between Spain and France, they have their own dialect, food, dress and culture apart from those other nations. They populated the central valley and brought their strong work ethic, lifestyle, wine and herds of sheep. They really know their sheep. This coming from a guy that raised lambs, the Basque have a leg up on everyone. In high school my friend Erick and I would go to the picnic, he being basque I was indoctrinated a little further than the normal guest attendee. This picnic was my first in a very long time. My mother, Victoria and I went, my mom normally volunteers with her friends serving the lunch but this year there were enough volunteers that she could just enjoy herself. The food was the best I could remember, from Russ' pecans at the bar to the lamb steaks it was amazing. The Borbas lent their property to the event again this year and I got to see the house my father built for them 25 years ago. I also got to chat with a friend from high school as she is a major contributor to the club. All in all it was a great day, I can't wait for the next one.
